Description

Escape Recruitment's Ayrshire based client is looking for Process Support Engineer's to join their growing team. The purpose of this role is to design and develop safe, efficient processes for new and existing products, ensuring they meet quality standards, cost expectations, and delivery quantities. The role encompasses responsibility for the entire product lifecycle, from manufacturing to ongoing support. Working within the process engineering team, providing guidance and support on products and processes. This role requires flexibility to undertake tasks necessary to meet business needs.

The Role

  • Ensure all tasks are performed in strict adherence to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) regulations and company policies.
  • Report any observed unsafe conditions or actions using the Incident Reporting System, in line with Health and Safety at Work Act responsibilities.
  • Collaborate with product development engineers and the drawing office to design plant/process layouts, including necessary jigs or tooling.
  • Lead teams in conducting Risk Assessments on manufacturing processes and trial activities.
  • Implement and maintain safe, efficient manufacturing practices, managing all engineering design changes per change procedures.
  • Conduct reviews of existing products and processes using tools like Process FMEA and statistical analysis to create improvement programmes.
  • Support and lead root cause analysis and develop corrective action plans.
  • Maintain product design history files, including data packs and Bills of Materials.
  • Develop written operating instructions, route cards, manufacturing quality plans, and provide training for production staff.
  • Assist with Production Readiness Reviews and ensure smooth handover to production.
  • Evaluate material and supplier changes in collaboration with subject matter experts and relevant departments.
  • Analyse technical data, forming conclusions and recommendations.
  • Prepare and deliver technical reports, presentations, and information to varied audiences, both internal and external.
  • Develop safe and effective plans and strategies to support trials or investigations.
  • Provide production support to resolve engineering issues when required.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry legislation.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with customers, suppliers, and third parties.
  • Undertake critical manufacturing projects as directed to meet business needs.
  • Support business development activities, including bid preparation and requirements analysis.

The Candidate

  • Degree or equivalent in Manufacturing Engineering, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Understanding of engineering processes, including systems engineering, requirements management, validation and verification, product safety, and certification.
  • Relevant experience in a production environment.
  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt preferred).
  • Skills in engineering design and problem-solving.
  • NEBOSH certification (preferred).
  • Proficient in IT (MS Office, Teams).
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and environmental standards.
  • Proactive in identifying potential problems and coordinating their resolution.
  • Continuously seeks and implements new ideas and opportunities that benefit the business.
  • Ability to build effective relationships, working independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong IT, communication, and teamwork skills.
