Escape Recruitment Services are partnering with our client, a successful SME based in West Lothian that has enjoyed progressive growth throughout the years. We are looking to add a talented Assistant Accountant to the existing finance team. This is an amazing opportunity to develop within a varied role with real opportunity to develop your financial career internally.

Reporting to the Finance Director, you will provide financial support and analysis to the business and Stakeholders, within a fast-paced commercial environment, you will have the opportunity to make a real impact on the company’s future growth plans.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting: Manage weekly, monthly, and annual financial reports, keeping everything on track and transparent.

Budgeting & Forecasting: Work alongside departments to create and monitor budgets and financial forecasts.

Financial Analysis: Dive deep into financial data to uncover opportunities for cost-saving and revenue enhancement.

Compliance: Ensure all financial processes are up to scratch with the latest regulations and standards.

System Improvement: Help us continually improve the accuracy and quality of our financial information.

Deputise for Finance Director: Provide support and guidance to the wider finance team.

 

What We’re Looking For:

  • Ideally you will be currently studying towards your ACCA/CIMA or achieved AAT Level 4 and looking to start your professional exams.
  • Previous experience in a busy, fast paced, SME environment.
  • Candidates that have previous experience in a similar Assistant Accountant, Finance Assistant, Bookkeeper &/or Finance Analyst role would be ideal.
  • You will be highly analytical, able to understand and interpret financial data to non-financial staff, whilst identifying and recommending opportunities around cost saving and to increase profit margins.
  • Strong communication skills, including Stakeholder management and working cross functionally within the business, whilst providing support the wider finance team.
  • Confident IT skills, this should include advanced MS Excel skills and ideally previous experience of using either Xero &/or QuickBooks.
